Maidstone Rugby Club Home

Welcome to the Maidstone U16 squad for season 2017/18

The Maidstone U16s squad is being reformed after a couple of years in the wilderness, and we have a small but growing core of players already and the team will be building throughout the season. This is an exciting year for rugby, following the immensely successful season for the senior team (and our own achievements) along with the much anticipated World Cup competition.

We welcome all comers, from experienced rugby players who play for their school, or are returning to rugby after taking time out or simply beginners wanting to have a go. If you want to challenge yourselves, have fun and become a part of the rugby family, then there is a place for you on the team. Players from all backgrounds, all shapes, all sizes and abilities will find their place and we will help you to grow into that as the season progresses.

I will be coaching the team with help from the U17’s coaches and with input from parents. We will be training with some of the U15’s and for full team matches we will have some fixtures with them too. As numbers grow, we will also be fielding 7’s and 10’s teams for fixtures and festivals later in the Spring – fast-paced and fun-packed affairs. The coaches have all played rugby at various levels, have completed RFU safeguarding courses and have been RFU DBS (CRB) checked.

We train on Tuesdays at the club; from 6:30-7:30pm and play matches on Sunday mornings (Timings will vary depending on where we are playing. Please see the youth fixture list for games this season.). If there is no match we will train at the club, usually from 10:00am-12:00pm. This is a commitment, as with any team, and we hope that you will be able to get along to as many of the training sessions as possible, so the team spirit will grow and we’ll get a good run out against the opposition.

So, if you are turning 16 after 1st Sept (Year 11), we are looking forward to seeing you at one of our training sessions soon!
